Family trip to the local Gym Jam last Sunday, a chaotic rec centre filled with 1-4 year old, bikes, balls and a bouncy castle. A great outing for a wet Spring day in Wellington!
It was nice to see more Dads on this occasion, where mid-week it’s usually just the Mums. A mixture of parents awkwardly standing about arms crossed watching their child, some were occasionally watching while on their phones, and some tossing balls at the hoops (but often missing).
One Dad decided to have a chat while waiting at the end of the slide, asking the classic questions, how old, what’s her name, coping ok with the winter sickness. And while I appreciated his friendliness, he rapidly became quite forward asking if we were having another!
An hour quickly passed with more standing around, the odd toddler tantrum (fortunately not ours) and Poppy beginning to slow down, showing signs that she was almost ready for her nap. We did the classic drive home with snacks and calling out her name to ensure she did not fall asleep.
Success is making it home after these outings, just in time to get her down easily for her rest. And us getting quiet time for a cuppa and weekend chores!
